Oh! The Drama!!
I hate drama. Drama is only good for one thing: It provides an easy topic of conversation for people who either don’t really know you, or don’t care enough about you to ask about the “real” things happening in life; they just want the gossip. Otherwise (which I can happily say comprises about 95% of my life), drama is not only completely useless, but completely exhausting; making it a total waste of my time. So… I hate drama.
What I hate more than drama, though, is when my family becomes the key topic of said drama. Unfortunately, this has been, decidedly, the case in the last 3 months! Between housing issues and illness, we have had one major issue right after another. Mama is tired! J
From November 22, 2010 to now, we have moved twice, had a house riddled with problems (termites, electrical issues, water main breaks, a leak inside, code violations for the dryer hook-up, and was, literally, 49 degrees inside when we would wake up), the entire family has had the stomach flu twice, little boy has been sick EIGHT times (three of them ear infections), and dearest daughter has had strep once.
Okay… enough already! Mommy and Daddy are done, done, DONE with the sickness (“Get up, come on get down with the sickness….” Sorry… had a little “Disturbed” flashback)!
So! It’s time to make a change. Here’s what we’re going to do:
1. As soon as Mommy (or Daddy) can get back to the grocery, we are going to buy some pro-biotic yogurt, and everyone is going to eat it daily. This has worked in the past, but we haven’t done this at all this winter.
2. Mommy and Daddy are moving the exercise equipment into the sunroom this weekend. It’s going in front of the big window overlooking our landlord’s expansive property; a nice view we both plan to look at frequently while USING the exercise equipment! Studies have shown that moderate, regular exercise helps to boost your immune system(and has the added benefit of giving you a cute tushie!).
3. One word: VITAMINS. Everyone is going to start taking them regularly!!
4. Get more sleep. I am going to try to push the kids’ bedtime back from 8:30 & 9:00 to 7:30 & 8:00; Mommy in bed by 10:45.
It’s been a rough winter (“winter of my discontent” is more than appropriate), but it’s time for a change. We have a new house, Hubby has a new career, and I have a new assignment at work. We are putting Winter 2010 as far behind us as we can, and looking forward to a fresh and vibrant start in Spring 2011!! The only drama this family plans to be involved in is the daily comedy of a full and enjoyable life.
Thanks for sitting in the audience.
Meg
Wow, sounds like some amazingly positive changes in your family's lives! Congrats on that. Also, I definitely sympathize with you on the drama front. What a colossal waste of time, no?
